Known by the stage name El Kobi, Wara Emmanuel Kobi is a Cameroonian Afro-classic Singer, songwriter, music director, record producer, social commenter and teacher with roots from Bessi-Awum, Batibo in the Northwest Region of Cameroon.

Born December 24th 1990 in Kumbo to a family of five, he grew up to be passionate about music and was initiated by his mother as a chorister into the Zion Choir Presbyterian church Tobin at the age of 15. He later became Choir director and Church pianist at the age of 17 after a series of music seminars and workshops organised by NACOMEC*. In his secondary school days, El Kobi developed a passion for the performing arts and became part of a Music group based in Tobin-Kumbo that brought together youths with the passion for music which later gave rise to the KBHOOD MUSIK. Later in 2012, he became part of the record label Rhymesity Music in Bambili where he recorded his first single “Pays fo before” in 2015, an afro/RnB song which saw him into the MuzikStar music competition organized by S.A.B.C*.

Art Philosophy

El kobi composes and performs songs that express his voice and ideas, as well as display his vocal prowess, while striving for artistic integrity and excellence. In his “WaraSon style” characterized by sweet, colourful, resonant, emotional and intense Afro/classic styled vocals, galvanizing skillfully baked instrumentals with highly inspired and spirit elevating lyrics, he creates music which he believes has the power to cure depression, is efficient as a tool for educating, informing and enlightening, inspiring and prompting meaningful change in society, and trilling to propel listeners into a spirit of light-hearted, gleeful and joyful celebration; Music that comes alive, and transcends the immediate time and context into perpetuity.

El Kobi is a holder of a secondary school teacher grade I diploma from the Higher Teacher Training College Bambili of the University of Bamenda, and also A bachelor degree in Educational Leadership from Faculty of Education of the University of Buea.
