Chilli Wawaye receives a title from the Fon of Nso “Yeesum yov” alongside Witty Minstrel

On November 29th, Elites of the Nso tribe gathered in Yaoundé for the celebration of ‘Tooy Fon’ and cultural artist Chilli Wawaye received a chieftaincy title from the their Fon ( king ) who now resides in Yaoundé due to the anglophone crisis.

The event had elders ( male and female) from the land of Nso and other cultural artists like Witty Minstrel. Here is what she wrote after receiving the title.

“Dear Chiwawans, We are delighted to inform you that #Witty #Minstrel and Chilli Wawaye were honoured by HRH the Paramount Fon of Nso with the titles of Ngwang Yov and Yeesum Yov respectively, making them Peace Ambassadors.

As Yeesum Yov, Chilli Wawaye has been given the duty to use her music and talents to mobilise the entire Nso Fondom. She has also been assigned to mobilise musicians and the entire art family of Nso to ensure that the Fon’s intent of a peaceful and united Nso community comes to fruition. The black cap and colourful beads are symbols of this honour and responsibility.

May we sail through together as we put in our little, though significant, efforts in the promotion of peace, reconciliation and fraternity.
