As the year runs to an end we compiled a list of top 10 cameroonian albums on 2021. Cameroonian music industry was loaded with several albums and it is safe to say that the era of artistes releasing albums is back. Over 20 albums were released and this article highlights Kimbi blog’s best 10 Cameroon music Albums of the year 2021.
These projects were thoroughly scrutinized and picked based on quality of Production & Content, The Streams, Awards, and Hit Tracks and Acceptance by Cameroon music lovers first! before looking Internationally.
10) Janea – Bebiisedi
Janea returned to the music with his sophomore album titled “Bebiisedi”.
The album which features Stanley Enow, Grace Decca, Locko, Ridimz, Sandrine Nnanga and Ladytia displays his outlook on life, his journey as an artiste, and the drama in the Cameroonian music space all fused in his local genre of music where he sings mostly in the dialect.
9) X-maleya – Back to the roots.
Released on the 30th of April, 2021 sensational music group X-maleya took their rightful place as Cameroon’s veterans. With 12 songs, 1 feature and paying homage to the lost legendary cameroonian artistes as the theme of their most talked about body of work.
The album was passionately written & performed by X-maleya.
8) Lady Ponce – Supreme
Gifted bikutsi diver, songwriter and talented vocalist, Lady Ponce blessed fans with her incomparable music gift by releasing a brand new album “Supreme“. The body of work is a solo project with features that houses 17 tracks delivered in different realms. The Supreme album examines life, love, society, and scenarios in three different parts.
7) Locko – Era
On December 18th, Locko came through with his long anticipated album ‘ERA’ which had made several rounds on social media before it’s official release.
The 12 track album has 5 features and recorded a massive number of streams the day of it’s release. Fusing the Sawa dialect with English and French.
The 12 tracks album is filled with beautiful melodies that make it nearly impossible for any listener to skip any song.

6) AkuBai – The Genesis live EP.
AkuBai’s live EP ‘The genesis’ came like a thief in the night. Released in the month of August, the critically acclaimed EP exposed the singer’s deft, beautiful, imaginative, and brilliant songwriting when it comes Gospel songs and refixes. It circles around the Gospel of Christ, forgiveness, Truth and peace.
5) Minks – Urban Bantu
I personally think Mink’s is underrated 😞 his diversity and talent this year has been nothing but exceptional. Earlier this year 2021, Mink’s released a rap freestyle which was later followed by his album ‘Urban Bantu’
The 15 tracks album which cuts across Afrobeats, Bensikin and pop culture made it to numerous billboards around the streets of Douala, Yaoundé, bertoua and got playlisted in numerous playlists.
4) Cysoul – illusions
Next Rated artiste winner at MUMA 2021 Cysoul has been keeping it on lockdown ever since he rose to the limelight.
His Debut album, “Illusions” is widely accepted by many music enthusiasts which have birthed his hit song “Charlene” with millions of streams across all platforms in the space of eleven months.
Cysoul has adhered to utilize his grand and buzz which is working transcendently for him.
3) Mr Leo – Lion of Africa ( Jeéy).
I know it’s quite a shocker seeing Mr Leo’s second Studio album “Lion of Africa” taking the fourth position is a list that comprises many albums as the 4th.
Well, considering the Grammy Standard which Mr Leo is a student, factors used in selecting and ranking albums, Mr Leo’s Jeéy album took it’s rightful position, as it clinged on to the 2nd best albums released in 2020 on Kimbi blog.
The 13 tracks album was released on the 17th September 2021, and had international celebrities like Francis N’gannou, Dj Fredy Musk, Victoria Kimani and more.
2) Charlotte Dipanda – CD.
Charlotte Dipanda moved to showcase her music consistency with the release of her Studio Album tagged “CD“.
The album which was released on the 26th of February, 2021 turned out to be a well-put-together body of work with all tracks showing Charlotte’s vocal power and singing skills. The album is no doubt a reflection of how Charlotte has evolved from ground to the top live Top star act she is.
1) Salatiel – Africa represented.
The album has so far gotten positives reviews from music critics on the media spaces. Listeners have hailed Salatiel’s work ethic and stating the album is amazing.
The project is admirable to see Salatiel balance his signature sound with hints of exploration in collaboration such as “Africa represented” song featuring CFX all while remaining true to his African culture.
The level of acceptance from fans in diaspora and home made the album trend for several weeks and also listed as the most streamed Cameroonian album on Spotify. It had featuring from several African artist including Sauti Soul and Teni.
