French Ligue 1 is the most affected league as they will loose 52 African players to the AFCON tournament

Ligue 1 will have to continue without 52 African players who have been called up to represent their respective national teams in the AFCON.

The AFCON kicks off in Cameroon in 9 days time.
The tournament was initially scheduled for June last year but was postponed to January next year because of the COVID 19 pandemic.
European clubs have been log heads with CAF due to the fact that African players called up will be out of action for their European clubs for a month.
The ECA tried putting pressure on CAF to postpone the tournament but were unsuccessful.

Ligue 1 will be the most affected league as 52 players will be unavailable for their clubs.

Olympique lyonnaise will have to do without their inform man this season Karl Toko Ekambi who is their second highest scorer in the league with 5 goals, Algerian striker Slimani and Zimbabwean Kadawere. PSG will have to continue without trio Achraf Hakimi, Gana Ngueye and his compatriot Abdou Diallo who shall be representing Morocco and Senegal respectively.

FC Metz (7), AS Saint-Étienne (5), FC Nantes (5), Angers SCO (4), Stade Rennais FC (4), Clermont Foot 63 (3), O. Lyonnais (3), Stade de Reims (3), Paris SG (3), ESTAC (3), RC Lens (2), O. Marseille (2), OGC Nice (2), RC Strasbourg Alsace (2), Stade Brestois 29 (1), Girondins de Bordeaux (1), FC Lorient (1), Montpellier HSC (1), AS Monaco and LOSC (0).
