Antonio Conceicao to remain as Cameroon head coach: See his record since he took charge of the Cameroon national team
There has been growing debates on whether the Indomitable Lions head coach Antonio Conceicao will keep his job after their third place finish in Afcon 2021 on home soil.
The debate is now closed. No change possible at the head of Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions before the playoffs for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Indeed, on the set of the Crtv, the Cameroonian taxpayer’s media this Sunday, February 13, 2022, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi praised the performances of this coach.
“The urgency today is the preparation of the dams next March in serenity, unity, harmony. And for that, we have a team. A team that is growing in strength, a team that has shown its strength, its fighting spirit, its combativeness. We have a technical staff composed of expatriates but also but also Cameroonians. We don’t say it enough. The priority currently, it is not to destabilize the team by beheading it. Decapitating it means cutting off the coach’s head,” he said.
Antonio Conceicao took charge of Cameroon in a match against Tunisia on the 12th of October 2019, a match that ended in a zero all draw. It’s safe to say Antonio Conceicao’s record at the Cameroon National team is not bad at all.
He recorded his first win in his third match in charge, a one nil win against Rwanda in the 2021 Afcon qualifiers.
