President of Cameroon MTN Elite one side Fauve Azur believes the minimum 100,000 CFA wage for Elite one players should be capped.

Since Samuel Eto’o became president of the Cameroon FA, he has taken many precautions to improve the league. This includes making sure Players are being payed by their Clubs.
The president has allocated a minimum wage of 100,000 CFA for Elite one players and 50,000 CFA for Elite two players. This means players playing in Cameroon division one and two cannot be payed less than the amount above.

The FECAFOOT President has also followed up to make sure players receive their Salaries as he asked the clubs to show prove of payment of players salaries.

Speaking on Vision 4, SG of the Elite Clubs of Cameroon and also president of Fauve Azur spoke against the minimum wage installed by Fecafoot.

“Some club presidents believe that players are not civil servants, so they must be paid on their performance. They must not come to sleep and wait 100 thousand FCFA at the end of the month. So to ensure that the players will stay in this movement of competitors, they are asked to look for results on the field, to win the money (Prime de matches), and there the children are fighting” he said

“That’s why I often tell my players that they have the chance to do a job where they are the ones who determine their salary. Because if in one month we win all our six matches, it will no longer be a matter of 100 thousand salary, because the bonus per match is 50 thousand […]. So I prefer to encourage children to make efforts to earn their income in a meritorious way, rather than doing civil servants,” continued Norbert Nya, President of Fauve Azur, SG of the Association of Elite Clubs of Cameroon.
