Interviewer:

Why are you targeting the Nigerian market ?

Kocee:

“Being the number 1 from my country I felt like my music needed to touch a broader audience and I didn’t bother to start afresh. I feel like we all are one Africa and I feel like I shouldn’t just stick as a French artiste but explore Africa because I don’t want to be in the box. I want to be an African artist.”

Interviewer:

What’s your genre of music ?

Kocee:

“I don’t like to box myself in a particular genre of music.

I started off as a rapper after being inspired by Sarkodie and I later discovered the rap community is small so I had to diversity by listening to other artists.

Interviewer:

How did you link up with Mastakraft & Patoranking ?

Kocee:

“I met Patoranking back in Cameroon when we had a concert and we had a conversation, I had to make sure I work with those who are up there when I came to Nigeria in January and I partnered with BridgeAfric. She has been making the connections easier for me to get to some people.( Comment: Kocee is not afraid to share his connects and give accolades 👌)

We did Credit Alert in the space of 45 minutes with Mastakraft sent it and Patoranking did his own verse. Patoranking has been so supportive to me and calls me regularly to check up, he has carried me to shows.

CrazeClown, Whitemoney, Obi Cubana and many others have supported me massively.

Interviewer:

How challenging has it been to break into Nigeria ?

Kocee:

“It’s not easy and I’ve not yet conquered the market yet but when I do you will know. There’s a lot of challenges and Nigerians are many ooooh”

Interviewer:

Who would you like to Collaborate with Next ?

Kocee:

“Presently Burna Boy inspires me a lot, not just about the music but his performances and how he carries himself and his style of dressing. His story inspires me that nothing is impossible because he stayed long patiently waiting backstage. I will like to work with Burna Boy, Davido and Kizz Daniel.

Kizz Daniel is one of those Genius African music, No Bad songs”

Interviewer:

You look like an ajebo, tell us about your story

Kocee:

“My dad was a retired taxi man and mechanic, I’m the last child of 10. I used to sell whisky in my mother’s shop.

interviewer:
