The 44th US President, Barack Obama, has a yearly propensity for sharing a rundown of the tunes he pays attention to all through the late spring, and throughout the long term, some Afrobeats tracks have gotten it done.
On July 20, Obama unveiled his 2023 summer playlist, which included the most recent single “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” by Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy.
The list includes more than just Burna Boy; The 2023 song “Sability” by Ayra Starr is also featured.
They are included on the playlist, which includes both classic and contemporary songs, along with other international superstars Jorja Smith, SZA, J Hus, Drake, Nas, and Rosalia.
The Former US President took to his social media page to reveal the list he wrote: Like I do every year, here are some songs I’ve been listening to this summer — a mix of old and new. Look forward to hearing what I’ve missed.
Recall, Burna Boy has already appeared on Obama’s yearly summer playlist, with his song ‘Last Last‘ appearing in 2022. ‘Rush’ by Ayra Starr was featured on Obama’s 2022 end-of-year playlist.
Wizkid, Rema, and Tems are among the other Nigerians who have been on Obama’s playlists.
