The recent release of the new single from Olamide titled ‘Trumpet’ has caused a stir online and sparked much debate.
The song quickly rose to 2.1 million views on YouTube, which many people did not expect since the song wasn’t necessarily a hit track or doing well on other streaming platforms. On the other hand, the music video has gained a shocking 53 million views on Instagram. With this, some people have accused the veteran Nigerian rapper and record label boss of using streaming farms to get more views and traction on his new single.
Nevertheless, many Olamide fans have come to Olamide’s defense and insist that whatever views or streaming numbers he gets are entirely organic. The supporters of Olamide also took it a step further and brought up the success of fellow renowned Nigerian contemporaries like Wizkid and Davido in terms of their music numbers and chart-topping songs. They believe that Olamide still has the touch – just like his counterparts – but has not been able to keep up with their success.
