In a recent interview, Nigerian artist Skales said that he left Banky W’s record label broke.

Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known by his stage name Skales, has opened out about how his life drastically changed after quitting Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).

In a recent interview with Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, Skales made this revelation. He said that after EME failed to extend his recording contract, he made the decision to go without housing and sleep in his car.

The “Shake Body” singer alleged that he moved from leading a life of luxury to being bankrupt after EME management evicted him from their flat.

Skales also acknowledged that he had thought of relocating abroad prior to the popularity of his song “Shake Body” and the consequent transformation in his life.

The song was a huge success despite the artist claiming he had no money for advertising.

He said, “When I left EME, I had nothing. Everything just ended in one day. I went from enjoying a luxurious life to sleeping in the car. As soon as my deal ended, I lost the house, they told me to leave the house immediately.

“All I had was one car, a Ford Explorer. And I was sleeping inside the car for a long time. Little did I know that I had a song that was going to change my life on my flash drive. So months later, I just put out the song .

“I didn’t have any promo money, nothing. I just uploaded it on Soundcloud. And it was just a wildfire. It was crazy. I didn’t even know the song was big. I believed, but I gave up because I was trying to japa . Then I got a call from Harry Tee, God rest his soul. That was how my life changed.”
