Michael Collins Ajereh, better known by his stage name Don Jazzy, a well-known Nigerian artist, has explained why he did not sign Davido and Wizkid to his now-defunct record label Mo’hits.
When EME chairman Banky W attempted to sign the Starboy to the label, the Mavin CEO stated that Wizkid had already been signed.
He claimed that he had the opportunity to sign Davido, but he turned it down because he knew Davido would succeed without a record label’s support.
Don Jazzy was also sorry he passed on Simi and Teni. He claimed that the arrangement to sign rapper Falz The Bahd Guy fell through.
He made this claim when appearing as a guest on Fisayo Fosudo’s Leaderboard program.
He said, “I like Simi, I didn’t sign her. I wish I did. I like Teni, but I didn’t sign her. I wish I did.
“I had the opportunity of signing Davido but I didn’t because I kind of figured that he would be fine. Wizkid, obviously, I couldn’t because Banky W got to him first. That would have been amazing.
“Falz, I love his work. We almost had a deal.”
