Nigerian singer Cynthia Morgan has spoken out in response to the recent controversy surrounding Davido’s comment referring to Burna Boy as one of the ‘new cats’ in the music industry.
Davido, during an interview, asserted his and Wizkid’s status as pioneering figures in the industry, predating the emergence of what he called the ‘new cats’, which includes Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, and Asake.
However, his remarks sparked a mixed reaction among netizens, with some arguing that labelling Burna Boy as a ‘new cat’ undermines his accomplishments and musical journey.
Others pointed out that Burna Boy had appeared in Cynthia Morgan’s 2015 music video for ‘Simatiniya’ as a vixen, suggesting that he wasn’t yet a mainstream artiste at the time.

“FYI Burna Boy was bigger than me in 2015. Ya’ll stop capping with my name,” Cynthia Morgan wrote on her Instagram story.
