Onome Onokohwomo, a Nigerian hip-hop artist who is based in the United States and goes by the stage name Young6ix, has revealed that he became famous before Davido.
This is a direct remark directed at Davido for omitting him from his list of the first generation of Nigerian musicians to achieve stardom.
Take note of Davido’s recent claim that he and Wizkid were the first group of young Nigerian musicians to achieve stardom.
Yung6ix said he was eager to see “new felines” (stars, for example, Burna Kid, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun and Asake currently overwhelming the music business.
Reacting via a video message shared on social media, Yung6ix called the singer ‘his boy’, stating that he, Olamide and Wizkid achieved fame before Davido. He said:
“David, David. How many times I called your name?
“You know I got nothing but love for you, my boy. But let’s get it straight. It was Wizkid, Olamide and Young6ix before it was you. We were the youngins of that time.
“You want to skip me from the legacy?”
