2023 CAF Awards: Andre Onana and Zambo Anguissa feature in CAF Team of the Year (see award winners)

The 2023 CAF Awards has been concluded in Morocco, with Nigeria emerging as the biggest winners in the award ceremony with four wins

Asisat Oshoala won the award for African Women’s Player of the Year for the sixth time, while Victor Osimhen backed his first ever African Player of the Year award. It was also the first time that a Nigerian footballer has won the award since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.

Moroccan coach Walid Regragui won the award for the Coach of the Year, with fellow countryman Yassine Bounou winning the award for African Goalkeeper of the Year.

Best goal (Mahmoud Kahraba 🇪🇬)

Best men’s national team (Morocco 🇲🇦)

Best Women’s National Team (Nigeria 🇳🇬)

Best Young Player (Lamine Kamara 🇸🇳)

Best Young Player female(Nesryne El Chad 🇲🇦)

Best Player in Africa (Percy Tau 🇿🇦)

The best player in Africa (Fatima Tagnant 🇲🇦)

Best men’s team (Al-Ahly 🇪🇬)

Best women’s team (Mamelodi Sundown 🇿🇦)

 

The Men’s CAF Team of the Year was also announced, with the Andre Onana who despite not winning the Goalkeeper of the Year, making it into the team ahead of Yassine Bounou. His country man Zambo Anguissa also featured in the team, in four man midfield alongside Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus and Sofyan Amrabat

 

Mohammed Salah, Victor Osimhen and Sadio Mané completed the trio upfront, while Achraf Hakimi, Chancel Mbemba and Kalidou Koulibaly completed the defensive trio
