Al Nassr ready to offload Aboubakar inorder to register Ronaldo. See why
Al Nassr are yet to register Cristiano Ronaldo as their player despite the superstar completing his move to the club and they might have to offload one of their best players Vincent Aboubakar.
Saudi Arabian league rules stipulates that a club can not have more than eight foreign players in their squad. Al Nassr already have eight foreign players and Ronaldo’s arrival means they will have now nine foreign players.
David Ospina, Talisca, Vincent Aboubakar are some of the players occupying the foreign players spot. For Al Nassr to register Ronaldo, they must terminate one of these players contract or transfer the player to another club.
“Al Nassr has not registered him yet because there is no vacancy for a foreign player,” a club official told AFP, as per Metro.
“A foreign player must leave to register Ronaldo, either by selling or by terminating the contract by mutual consent.”
Local reports in Saudi state that Jaloliddin Masharipov, who recently changed his shirt number from No.7 to No.77 to accommodate Ronaldo, is the leading candidate to make way for the 37-year-old.
However a Vincent Aboubakar departure is not also ruled out and Al Nassr are willing to listen to offers for the player.
The 30 year old has already been linked with a move to Manchester United, Rayo Vallecano and Olympique de Marseille in recent days.
Al Nassr match today against Al Tai was postponed to tomorrow after heavy rains damaged the stadium’s electrical supply. Ronaldo will now have to wait a little bit longer untill Al Nassr get rid of one foreign player to make his debut and even so, the Portuguese superstar is also banned for two matches after he hit an Everton Fan’s phone during his time at Manchester United. As per FIFA rules, a fan given to a player by a Football Association must be served even if the player moves to another league.
