Head Coach Rigobert Song named his 34 man Provisional Squad for the AFCON 2023 qualifiers today.
The Squad had some new faces who will be hoping to make the Coach’s final list and go on to make their international debut.

However, 28 year old Maritimo Forward Joel left a cryptic message shortly after Rigobert Song announced his list.
The player wrote this on his Instagram story
“May the Almighty God watch over my dear and beautiful Country
Better I start playing handball…It’s discouraging.”
It’s clear the player was reacting to being omitted from the head coach’s list.

Joel Tageu is currently having a good season with Maritimo in the Portuguese league, scoring 9 goals in 23 appearances.
Joel Tageu has made 5 appearances for the Indomitable Lions since his debut in 2018. He has scored one goal for the Cameroon national team.
Cameroon will be playing Kenya and Burundi accounting for their day one and two fixture of 2023 Afcon in Ivory Coast.
