Bashirou Mbah popularly know as Dura King is a Cameroonian artiste born on the 15th of December 1997 in Batibo in the Northwest Region of Cameroon. Dura King is also known as “African Baby King” is a sings Afrobeats, Dancehall, Zouk, Reggae and R&B musician.

EARLY LIFE OF DURA KING

Dura King was born in Batibo, the capital of Batibo Subdivision and Batibo council. He grew up in Ashong. He attended Government School Wumudeng where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate and his secondary school at Government Bilingual High School Nyalla where he obtained his Ordinary Level Certificate.

For his Advanced Level Certificate, Dura King attended CPC Bali. He is currently taking courses at the university to become an IT Specialist.

CAREER

Dura King developed interest in music as a kid. His mother will always buy him toy pianos for Christmas because that was the only thing he’d ask for. He wrote his first song while in form 2 which the whole choir learned the song and sang during their Sunday Service.

Thereafter, Dura King continued writing songs for the choir and church. They were all gospel songs at the time. After gospel, Dura King decided to try other genres so he started rapping and singing, when he got into high school, almost every young artiste at the time wanted to be a rapper, he decided to leave the rap scene which was saturated and venture into Afrobeats and R&B.

He released his first ever single entitled “Orey” in 2016. He is currently signed to the record label Du.Star Empire.

Dura King’s inspiration is not far fetched, the singer’s inspiration could come from how he feels, anything around him, what he hears or sees. Notwithstanding, some great musicians such as Wizkid, Petit Pays, Lucky Dube and Fally Ipupa have played a role in influencing his music.
