News

The visit of this CAF delegation to Cameroon is coming at a time when there’s a lot foreign media distraction, agenda setting claiming the country is not ready to host.

The delegation that is expected to hold a working session with the Local Organizing Committee, COCAN, is headed by CAF’s secretary general Veron Mosengo-Omba and he is accompanied by CAF’s director of competition Samson Adamu, FIFA’s chief of tournaments and events Collins Smith, Sandra Lalurre from the office of the general secretariat of CAF and Anthony Baffoe. They shall visit the Olembe Stadium to check on work progress and also the inauguration of the CAF center in Yaounde

Some of these foreign media outlets are even reporting that Algeria, Morocco, Egypt or South Africa are ready to take over the rights to host the competition.

Seidou Mbombo Njoya, president of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT and CAF’s 4th vice president took to his social media handles to assure Cameroonians that the country shall host the AFCON in January 2022.

“Our country shall host the AFCON in January 2022”, president Seidou Mbombo Njoya wrote.

“FECAFOOT is mobilize and is working closely with the government of Cameroon to make this football jamboree the best in Africa as wished by Dr Patrice Motsepe president of CAF”, Seidou Mbombo Njoya concluded.

Cameroon earlier this year successfully hosted the African Nations Championship with 16 teams present. How then is the country not ready to host a 24-nation tournament?

With stadiums of international standards approved by CAF, it can only be sabotage to even think the country is not ready to host the AFCON in January 2022.

Apart from the four stadiums used during the CHAN, the Roum Adja stadium in Garoua that will soon host a CAF confederations cup semi final match shall be added to the stadiums.

Despite all these malicious information circulated on social media, FECAFOOT, the Local Organizing Committee, COCAN and the government of Cameroon are working tirelessly to ensure the competition goes on hitch free.

Here is the program schedule posted by Cameroon football federation FECAFOOT on their page
