According to Russian new paper, Sport-Express The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon has refused to organize a friendly match with the Russian national team. Sport-Express reported on Tuesday May 22nd 2023.

According to the newspaper, the match between Russia and Cameroon was to take place on June 15 in Moscow at the Luzhniki stadium.

Earlier, Russian Football Union (URF) President Alexander Diukov told TASS that the union was negotiating a home match for the Russian national team in June, without specifying a possible opponent. The URF is also discussing the possibility of organizing a friendly match against the Chinese national team.

On February 28, 2022, the International Federation of Association Football (Fifa) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) suspended Russian clubs and teams from participating in international competitions because of the situation in Ukraine.
