It was a highly contested match as two power houses of African football met. However the Ivorians came out untop thanks to two first half strikes from Sebastian Haller
Ivory coast opened the scoring from the spot after 20 minutes when Vincent Aboubakar conceded a hand ball. Ajax attacker Sebastian Haller made no mistake from the spot.
Ivory coast doubled their lead nine minutes later with a fine strike to far corner.
Cameroon got one back ten minutes into the second half after Eric Bailly conceded a careless penalty. Ngamaleu made no mistake as he sent the keeper the wrong way.
Ivory coast now lead the group with four points, Cameroon come second with three points. Mozambique and Malawi who have one point and zero points respectively face off tomorrow for their second group match.
Do you think the state of the pitch had a role to play in the outcome of the match?
