Cameroonian sprinter Emmanuel Eseme sets new national record in World Athletics Indoors Championship in Glasgow

Cameroonian sprinter Emmanuel Eseme has set a new national record of 6.52 seconds in the Men’s 60m race.

After finishing second in the Semi Finals of the 2024 World Athletics Indoors Championship in Glasgow with a personal and national record of 6.52s, Emmanuel Eseme secured a spot in the final in his first-ever participation in the competition. However, he finished 6th in the final with a time of 6.68s.

In the Semi Finals, despite a poor start, Eseme stormed to a national record of 6.52s in his heat, closely trailing Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake, who won in 6.51s.

Emmanuel Eseme had previously set another national record of 6.54s in the Quarter Finals before surpassing the record again in the Semi Finals.

Emmanuel Eseme and Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala were the two Africans who made it to the finals.

Eseme finished sixth while Omanyala finished fourth in the finals. USA’s Christian Coleman and Noah Lyles finished first and second respectively, while Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake completed the podium with a third place finish.

The final results were as follows:
