How Cameroon can lost to Brazil and still qualify for the Knock out stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Indomitable Lions lost their first 2022 FIFA World Cup match to Switzerland 1-0.
The lost puts them with an uphill task if they are to have any chances of qualifying for the next round.
However, Cameroon must not necessarily win all their two remaining matches to qualify for the next of the tournament. They can still qualify with 3 points but that will also depend on the results of the other teams in the group.
HOW CAMEROON CAN QUALITY WITH THREE POINTS.
As things currently stand, Cameroon sit third in the group with 0 points and a -1 goal difference while their next group opponents Serbia also have 0 points with a -2 goal difference. Brazil sit top of the group with 3 points and a +2 goal difference and then Switzerland second with 3 points and a +1 goal difference.
If Cameroon win their next match against Serbia and Switzerland lost to Brazil, Switzerland and Cameroon will both have three points.
Now in the last round of group fixtures, Cameroon can lost to Brazil and still stand a chance of qualifying if Serbia defeat Switzerland. If this scenario happens, Brazil will have nine points while Switzerland, Cameroon and Serbia will all have three points. Now the team with the best goal difference amongst Cameroon, Switzerland and Serbia will qualify for the next stage. So for Cameroon to be on a safe side, they need to score many goals against Serbia and incase they lost to Brazil, the score line should be respectable. Cameroon also have to hope that Brazil defeat Switzerland with a heavy scoreline, that will put Switzerland on a negative goal difference and thus increasing Cameroon’s chances of qualifying if the above scenario occurs.
Cameroon take on Serbia tomorrow at 11pm while Brazil play Switzerland at 5pm
