FECAFOOT ordered by CAS to pay over 1 billion CFA to former coach Antonio Concecao
FECAFOOT has lost its case against Former Indomitable Lions coach Antonio Concecao and will therefore pay him more than 1 billion CFA.
It should be recalled that Antonio Concecao’s contract was terminated in 2021 with Rigobert Song being appointed as the new head coach. The Portuguese tactician reported the case to FIFA for wrongful breach of contract and FECAFOOT was ordered to pay him €1,603,000 which amounts to over 1 billion CFA.
FECAFOOT took the case to the CAS and suffered another defeat yet again as the court ordered them to pay money for breach of contract.
This was confirmed during a press release by FECAFOOT earlier yesterday.
It Reads
“The Cameroon Football Federation brings to the attention of public opinion that, in the context of the case opposing him to Mr. Antonio CONCEICAO DA SILVA, former coach and coach of the National Football Team Fanion of Cameroon,
The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) confirmed on May 8, 2023 the first decision rendered by the FIFA Players’ Status Committee.
Although the relevant arguments developed at the CAS do not seem to have been taken into account (non- compliance with contractual clauses, etc.), the Cameroonian Football Federation takes note of this decision and reserves the right to exercise appeal before the Swiss Federal Court”
