Francis Ngannou slams UFC claiming he lost out on a deal of over a MILLION dollars due to the promotion’s exclusive deals
UFC heavy weight Francis Ngannou slams UFC claiming he lost out on a deal of over a MILLION dollars due to the promotion’s exclusive deals.
Francis Ngannou has attacked UFC once more with a series of tweets.
The UFC champion still hasn’t renewed his contract at UFC. His last title fight against Ciryl Gane was his last fight in his current contract and he is free to leave the division as from December if he doesn’t extend.
The Cameroonian has been requesting for an improved contract from UFC President Dana White which they haven’t been able to agree terms.
Prior to 2015, UFC fighters were allowed to wear combat equipment with the logos of their own sponsors. However, this income stream was withdrawn from athletes when the UFC signed an exclusive uniform agreement with Reebok and then with Venum after that. Dana White, President of UFC, explained that an agreement had been put in place to give the UFC presentation a more professional aspect. According to Francis Ngannou, he lost an agreement worth more than $1 million due to UFC’s sponsorship agreement with a cryptocurrency platform.
Below is what he wrote on Twitter earlier today
“Listening to Luke’s interview was very pertinent.
A lot of things that nobody is talking about it and the company just rolls with it.
Fighters are ripped off with Sponsorship. It’s a huge source of revenue for us but the company keeps exploiting that for their own benefit.
I understand that the sport needs to look good with uniforms but we should at least have a right for a minimum of 2 approved sponsors for in the octagon.
Last year I lost a deal of over a million dollars from a crypto exchange because the partnership with CRYPTO .COM
What do I got from it ?
Inflation is up”
