Rigobert Song gives Vincent Aboubakar injury update after the play could not complete the match yesterday.
Cameroon were defeated yesterday by Algeria 0-1 at the Japoma Stadium.
The indomitable lions will have to win the return leg game in Algeria in-order to have a chance of qualifying for the World Cup.
Vincent Aboubakar was substituted at half time, a move that left many fans shocked and surprised.
Rigobert Song during a press conference today explained why the player was substituted
“Vincent Aboubakar had a heel pain at half-time, but it doesn’t matter… He had a problem with the heels and the lawn that was a little heavier, we didn’t want to take risks because the return game will be very important,” said the technician.
Islam Slimani opened the scoring for Algeria just few minutes to the end of the first half as headed home a Youssef Belaili free kick.
The return leg will be played on Tuesday 29th March.
The Afcon 2021 top scorer will be a big blow for Cameroon if he does not recover in time for the return leg.
