Even though Cameroon exited the World Cup in the group stage, Vincent Aboubakar dropped a remarkable performance with the Lions. He scored a goal of the tournament contender and also recorded an assist as they drew 3-3 with Serbia, before going on to score a superb header in Cameroon’s 1-0 win over Brazil.

Patrick Mboma is Cameroon’s second highest scorer in the tournaments history with 11 goals in 17 appearances averaging 0.65 goals per game. Vincent Aboubakar currently has 9 Afcon goals in 15 appearances for Cameroon averaging 0.60 goals per game. The 30 year old is still active with the Indomitable Lions and will be looking forward to adding his tally during the next Afcon edition in Ivory Coast 2023.

Roger Milla managed 7 Afcon goals in 18 appearances during his playing days averaging 0.39 goals per game ratio.

Samuel Eto’o is Africa’s most decorated player interns of individual awards and trophies. He has been named African player of the year four times which is joint most with Yaya Toure. He has also appeared in CAF team of the year a record six times. Samuel Eto’o led Cameroon to an Olympic gold medal win in 2000 scoring the winning goal against Brazil in the finals.

Roger Milla won the African player of the year award two times and was also named African best player of the last 50 years in 2007. He’s the only Cameroonian up to date to feature in the FIFA World cup team of the tournament when he did so in Italia 1990.

Patrick Mboma has won the African ballon d’or once in 2000, the year he also won the Olympic gold medal with Cameroon.

Interms of individual awards, Vincent Aboubakar hasn’t had much luck in winning any for Cameroon yet. Apart from his Afcon golden boot win 2021, the player hasn’t won any reputable individual award yet.
