News

Vincent Aboubakar has cleared the air regarding rumors that he underwent a hair transplant last season.

According to several Turkish media outlets, Vincent Aboubakar underwent a hair transplant last season, which resulted in him avoiding aerial duels during their derby match, as per the doctor’s prescription. This was after he was advised by the club not to do it mid-season as it would get him unfit & sidelined.

The media also reported that Aboubakar has been displaying a lack of focus in Besiktas games this season in order to maintain his fitness for the AFCON next year in Ivory Coast.

However, Vincent Aboubakar has addressed these rumors in an interview with Turkish media outlet Sporx.

“I have neither had a hair transplant nor done anything of that nature. I fell seriously ill with a virus and was unable to play in three matches. However, I scored many goals last season. The goals I scored in the qualifying matches at the beginning of the season allowed the club to qualify for the Conference League. It’s obvious,” said the 31-year-old.

Recall that Vincent Aboubakar and four other Besiktas players were suspended from first team activities due to incompatibility with team plans according to Besiktas management
