Ivory Coast has defeated Guinea Bissau 2-0 in the AFCON 2023 opening match.

The AFCON 2023 kicked off in Ivory Coast today with a colorful opening ceremony marked by performances from artists like the Franco-Ivorian group Magic System, Nigerian sensation Yemi Alade, and Egyptian rapper Mohamed Ramadan.

Getting down to business, it didn’t take long for the host nation to introduce themselves, as Seko Fofana’s strike put the Ivorians in front just four minutes into the fixture.

Jean Philippe Krasso doubled the lead for the host in the 58th minute with a beautiful volley.

In tomorrow’s fixtures, Nigeria takes on Equatorial Guinea in the second Group A fixture at 3 PM. For Group B fixtures, Egypt plays Mozambique at 6 PM, while Ghana faces Cape Verde at 9 PM.
