Karl Toko Ekambi has broken one of Samuel Eto’o’s prestigious record after becoming Cameroon’s top scorer in Europa League history
After scoring for Stade Rennes in their match against Shakhtar Donestk, the player became Cameroon’s highest goal scorer in the history of Europa League with 11 goals surpassing Samuel Eto’o’s record of 10 goals.
Sadly for him his goal wasn’t enough to qualify his team to the next stage. They lost to Shakter Donetsk on Penalty shoot out after playing on 2-2 aggregate draw.
Of Karl Toko Ekambi’s 11 UEFA Europa League goals, 3 came during his time at Villarreal in the 2018/2019 season, 6 with his parent club Olympique Lyonnaise last season and 2 with Stade Rennes this season.

Samuel Eto’o on the other hand spent most of his carreer playing in the Champions League instead of Europa League. Out of his 10 Europa League goals, 9 came during his time at Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in the 2012/2013 season and 1 during his time at Everton in the 2014/2015 season.
Samuel Eto’o is still Cameroon’s top scorer in the UEFA Champions League history with 31 goals.
