Karl Toko Ekambi named as Olympique Lyonnaise vice captain by head coach Peter Bosz. He was named alongside two other players.
Cameroon National team forward Karl Toko Ekambi has been appointed the Vice captain of Olympique Lyonnaise as confirmed by head coach Peter Bosz.
The player has been at Lyon since 2020 after joining from Villarreal. Ekambi was Lyon’s second highest goal scorer last season with 18 goals only behind French man Moussa Dembele.
“We had five weeks of preparation to choose the captain. For me it’s Alex. He is a natural leader who imposes himself without shouting, he says what he sees. It is natural and that’s why we chose it. The others are Coco, Karl and Antho,” he explained at a press conference. Peter Bosz praised Karl Toko Ekambi’s professionalism. “I’ve been working with Karl for more than a year. The 29 year old has been having a great year after leading Cameroon to the 2022 FIFA World Cup with last minute goal against Algeria in the play offs.
