The day also marked the day for fight against Homophobia and PSG were suppose to appear in an LGBT+ kit. However LGBT+ is against the Muslim religion and Gana Gueye decided not to partake in the game and ask the coach not to name him in the squad.

On RMC, Eric Arassus indicated that the player invoked “personal reasons” not to play the game and thus wear the flocked jersey in LGBT+ colors.

“PSG player Idrissa Gueye refused to play yesterday for not joining the day of fight against homophobia. A refusal motivated by religious convictions, “said the president of the LGBT+ Sports Federation.

“He is an excellent player, we recognize him, but religion must not come into question in sport. It can be said that homophobia is a denial in sport. Everyone played the game in France, all his teammates too. He is the only person who has not played the game. It is important that Idrissa Gueye is financially sanctioned already. His club really has to get involved in that. When we see that a player has invented several reasons, with a pseudo gastro at the beginning, we realize that it is homophobia and that the club and the League have let it happen. Today, it is extremely damaging.”
