Nigerian international Oshoala surpasses Samuel Eto’o’s and Yaya Toure’s record to become Africa’s most awarded player in history
Nigerian international Oshoala surpasses Samuel Eto’o’s and Yaya Toure’s record to become Africa’s most awarded player in history.
Nigerian Forward Asisat Oshoala won the award for the Women’s player of the Year beating Nchout Ajara and Grace Chanda to the prize.
The win puts Oshoala at a total of five African Player of the year awards which is the record most for an African Player.
Yesterday’s award puts her ahead of former Nigerian international Nkwocha(4 time winner). She’s now also Africa’s most decorated player in both men’s and Women’s football, one more than former Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o and Ivorian forward Yaya Toure who won the CAF men’s player of the year four times each.
In other awards, Senegal won National team of the year after winning the 2021 Afcon trophy in Cameroon and qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
