Massimo Busacca, Director of the FIFA Arbitration Sub-Division, assured that everyone would have adequate support from FIFA to best prepare them.

“In particular, individual programs on health and fitness will be put in place. As part of the follow-up planned in the coming months, we will carry out a final evaluation of technical, physical and medical aspects shortly before the competition to ensure that all referees are ready.”

“In early summer, the selected referees will participate in seminars in Asunción, Madrid and Doha where they will examine match sequences. They will also take part in practical training sessions filmed with players, which will allow instructors to provide them with immediate advice.” “The preparation will focus on the protection of players and the image of football, consistency, uniformity, reading the game from a technical and tactical point of view, as well as understanding the characteristics of teams and players. There will necessarily be mistakes, but we will do everything to ensure that there are as few as possible,” concluded Busacca.
