Former Indomitable Lions head coach Clarence Seedorf is confident Andre Onana will return to the Cameroon national team.
Andre Onana announced his retirement from the Cameroon national team last month after a fall out with head coach Rigobert song during the 2022 FIFA World cup which saw him leave the tournament even before Cameroon played their last group match against Brazil.
Speaking in an interview with Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Seerdorf was asked about the players decision to resign from international duty.
“André Onana is a great goalkeeper, an intelligent, curious and interested man. I think he will come back to play for the national team.” said the former Real Madrid player.
It’s worth recalling that Seedorf was the Cameroon national team head coach from 2018-2019. During his time with Cameroon national team, he managed 13 matches, won 4, drew 5 and lost 4 recording a win percentage of 30.77%. He was sacked in July 2019 after a disappointing AFCON 2019 campaign which saw Cameroon eliminated in the round of 16 by Nigeria.
