Cameroon take on Namibia on Friday, March 24th for the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers with a depleted squad. Choupo Moting, Karl Toko Ekambi and Fai Collins are all injured and have been replaced in the squad while Vincent Aboubakar will be unavailable due to suspension.

Rigobert Song will have to make tough choices when selecting his line up on Friday as he will have far less experienced squad than the one he expected.

Below is Cameroon’s possible line up for the match against Namibia

Goalkeeper

Davis Epassy 

The Abha fc Goalkeeper was second choice Goalkeeper after Andre Onana. With Onana retiring from the national team, it’s clear that Epassy will be first choice Goalkeeper now.

Right Back: Thomas Etta Bawak

Fai Collins is currently injured and has been replaced in the squad by PWD of Bamenda Right back Thomas Etta Bawak. Bawak is the only available natural Right back in the squad at the moment and he night start in the position unless Rigobert Song decides to experiment on another player in the position.

Left Back: Nouhou Tolo

Toko has been Cameroon’s undisputed started in the position for the past two years and there’s certainly no argument on whether he will be started by Rigobert Song

Center Back pairing: Castelleto and Christopher Wooh

Rigobert Song might decide to go again with the partnership that kept a clean sheet against Brazil in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. This will mean veteran defender Nkoulou, who missed Tuesda’s training session will start from the bench.

Midfield trio: Zambo Anguisa, Martin Hongla and Olivier Ntcham.

With Choupo Moting absent, Rigobert Song will likely play with the two central midfielders and one defensive midfielder formation. Martin Hongla will take up the defensive duty while Zambo Anguisa and Olivier Ntcham will play a double pivot centre midfield role.

Attack Line: Moumi Ngamaleu, Ignatius Ganago, Bryan Mbeumo

With Vincent Aboubakar and Choupo Moting injured, Ignatius Ganago remains the only experienced centre forward in the squad and will likely take up the starting centre forward position. Moumi Ngamaleu might replace Karl Toko Ekambi in the left wing while Bryan Mbeumo will take up his natural Right Wing position.
