U-20 Lionesses secure 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup spot, after defeating Egypt 5-3 on aggregate

The U-20 Lionesses have made history by qualifying for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2024 for the first time ever.

 

In the decisive match held in Yaoundé, Cameroon played a 1-1 draw with Egypt, securing their qualification to the tournament with a 5-3 aggregate score. This came after an impressive victory in the first leg, where they won 4-2 in Egypt.

 

They join Nigeria, Ghana and Morocco as the African countries that have qualified for the tournament.

 

Naomi Ndjoah Eto’o finishes as the top scorer in the qualifiers, closely followed by her team mates Annie Félicia Enganemben, Kenya’s Charity Midewa, and Ethiopia’s Emush Daniel who all have five goals each.

 

The 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup will take place in Colombia, and will run from August 31st, to September 22nd.
