Know More about Lydol
Real name Dolly Sorel Nwafo, Lydol is a Cameroonian slam artist, songwriter. She was born on September 15, 1994 in Yaoundé, Cameroon and is from the West Region and the coordinator of the Science slam Cameroon project since 2017. She did secondary studies at Collège de la Retraite where she was introduced to the stage. To add, she also holds a Master’s degree in Economics with an Economic and Financial Engineering option from the University of Yaoundé II (SOA).
In 2009, she took part in the holiday challenge competition and got to the semi-finals in the karaoke category. It is the following year that she emerged victorious in the slam category. From then on, she performed on the sets and halls of the city of Yaoundé, notably the Cameroonian Cultural Center and Goethe-Institut.
For 2013, after several prizes won such as “Ressort jeunes talents” organized by the Francis Bebey Cultural Center and the “Spoken word project” organized by Goethe Institut, she represented Cameroon in Angola for the Pan-African meeting of the “spoken Word Project”. In 2016, she dazzled the jury of the “Africa has an incredible talent” competition.
Her features with other Cameroon artists like Cysoul in “Roma” and Aveiro Djess in “Bango Bango” promotes slam by young Cameroonians. During 2018, she unveiled her very first album entitled “Slamtherapy” and last year 2022 she released “Hybride” her second album.
